MUSTC 153 MIDI Sequencing II

This course develops advanced skill in MIDI sequencing technology. Students learn MIDI functions including data manipulation in various editing environments, synchronization, humanization, and the use of plug-ins and virtual instruments. The course features a balance of demonstration and hands-on learning opportunities.
Prerequisite Required: MUSTC 151  and MUSTC 152

Course Learning Outcomes:
  • Produce and arrange a musical composition using advanced MIDI sequencing techniques.
  • Manipulate MIDI data in a variety of MIDI editing environments.
  • Synchronize recording and playback of a sequenced MIDI file to various other media formats.
  • Apply various techniques to add human characteristics to a computer generated music production.
  • Automate a variety of procedures in various MIDI sequencing environments.
  • Use a variety of plug-ins and virtual instruments in a successful MIDI music production.
  • Demonstrate skill using a variety of MIDI control surfaces in the creation of a successful MIDI music production.
