MUSTC 152 MIDI Sequencing I

This course introduces students to MIDI sequencing technology using the Macintosh computer. Students learn basic MIDI production skills including real and step-time entry, quantization, looping, transposition, editing, and sound selection. The course features both demonstration and hands-on learning opportunities.
Prerequisite Required: MUSTC 151 .

Course Learning Outcomes:
  • Record sequential MIDI data using both real and step-time entry methods.
  • Assign and playback sounds using advanced features of the sequencer transport system.
  • Edit MIDI sequence data using basic edit commands including quantization and transposition.
  • Assign and manipulate sequence loops as a MIDI music production technique.
  • Configure and use various MIDI controllers while sequencing data in a music production.
  • Organize, distribute, and store MIDI files in a structured and efficient manner.
