NURSE 206 Transition to Nursing Practice - 11 Qtr Minimum Units: 0.5 Maximum Units: 0.5 This course explores concepts of self-efficacy and growth mindset to create individualized plans for holistic well-being as students transition to practice. Survey of common transition challenges including anticipatory anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, conflicts of work world values with nursing school ideals, and interprofessional communication. Exploration of differences in experiences, and a variety of self-care practices for support. Discussion of situations which require flexibility including team models of care, floating, prioritizing for unit needs, time management, frustration with systems, and contingency models of care. Students will gain confidence in finding resources for information and support. Interprofessional communication skills will be practiced, focusing on providers and NAC’s. Prerequisite Required: Admission to the nursing program.
