Corequisite support course for MATH 99 . Algebra topics include graphing, equations of lines, factoring, laws of exponents. College success strategies address time management, math anxiety, and study skills.
Prerequisite Required: ABE 53  (Pass) or placement into MATH 46 MATH 47 , or MATH 49. See shoreline.edu/placement for details. Concurrent enrollment in MATH 99  required.

Course Learning Outcomes:
  • Solve linear equations and inequalities in one variable. Use linear equations to solve application problems.
  • Express English sentences as equations with one or more variables and vice versa.
  • Graph points and linear equations on a rectangular coordinate system.
  • Use and convert basic units of measurement.
  • Simplify, add, subtract, and multiply polynomials.
  • Evaluate square roots, cube roots, and simple rational powers of real numbers. Use rational exponents correctly.
  • Manipulate & simplify positive and negative exponents.
  • Describe and apply various practices for student success in a college math class.
