MUSTC 241 Tech Music Theory 4

Application of music theory concepts to ‘real life’ situations of contemporary music. Basic ear training, harmony, rhythm, and melody are examined. Designed primarily for students enrolled in Music Technology Program.
Prerequisite Required: MUSTC 143  with a grade of P or 2.0 or better, or permission of instructor.

Course Learning Outcomes:
  • Identify basic intervals and triads by sight and sound.
  • Notate and identify five forms of the seventh chord.
  • Apply elements of harmony and rhythm to follow lead sheets during playback of audio examples.
  • Listen and respond to ideas and reactions generated by the study of current music in a group setting.
