MATH& 142 Precalculus II Minimum Units: 5 Maximum Units: 5 Triangle trigonometry, circular and inverse trigonometric functions, trigonometric identities, solving trigonometric equations, applications of trigonometry. Polar coordinates and parametric equations. Pre-calculus II (trigonometry) for students in science, engineering, and math. Prerequisite Required: MATH& 141 (2.0 or better) or placement into MATH& 142. - Evaluate and manipulate expressions and solve equations involving circular and inverse circular functions.
- Graph circular and inverse circular functions and their transformations.
- Evaluate trigonometric functions of the basic angles and their multiples (in radians).
- Use trigonometric identities to verify other identities and solve equations.
- Solve applications using right triangle trigonometry, the Law of Sines, and the Law of Cosines.
- Perform basic vector operations, and use vectors to model physical situations involving force and work.
- Sketch curves defined parametrically and model using parametric equations.
- Convert points and equations from polar to rectangular coordinates and vice versa, and graph polar equations.
