MATH 111 Elements of Pre-Calculus

Algebra topics including mathematical modeling, graphing & problem solving w/ polynomial, rational, exponential & logarithmic functions. Applications. Topics from mathematics of finance. Precalculus (college algebra) for students in business, social sciences & some biological sciences.
Prerequisite Required: Placement into MATH 111 or MATH& 141 .

Course Learning Outcomes:
- Choose type of and write models to use to solve problems. Functions types are: power, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic.
- Solve problems given function models to use. Function types are: power, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic.
- Identify transformations of functions from graphs, tables, narrative applications and symbolic equations. Write the transformations symbollically.
- Compose and decompose functions, find and identify inverse functions, write combinations of functions. Graph results.
- Solve problems using mathematics of finance.
