ENGL 281 Beginning Short Story Writing I Minimum Units: 5 Maximum Units: 5 Students will explore and write short fiction using plot, character, atmosphere, point of view, symbolism, metaphor, and theme. Using various narrative strategies, they will write and workshop various fictional pieces. They will identify the strengths and limitations of various storytelling media. Prerequisite Required: Completion of ENGL 99 or equivalent with 2.0 or higher, or placement into ENGL& 101, or instructor permission.
