IDS 100 Interdisciplinary Studies Program Minimum Units: 10 Maximum Units: 10 INTST 201 Are corporations more powerful than nations? What are the political and economic roots of terrorism and conflict, global climate disruption, and poverty in developing countries? This course examines the crucial historical events, the political framework, and the economic institutions that have shaped the modern world and the global marketplace. We examine issues of free trade versus protectionism, capitalism versus socialism, corporate power versus human rights and the environment, and the relations between industrialized countries and developing nations.
