Techniques for musical data entry using an electronic piano style keyboard. Digital Audio Workstations provide keyboard access to notation, sequencing, and recording software. Improvisation and melody construction.
Prerequisite Required: MUSTC 192  with a grade of P or 2.0 or better, or instructor permission.

Course Learning Outcomes:
  • Create a single-line melody in musical notation to a click track.
  • Perform step-entry tasks resulting in accurate note, rhythm, and dynamic content.
  • Use the pitch-bend wheel and continuous data control to enter various note properties.
  • Create melodies that demonstrate principles of established melodic construction process.
  • Perform examples of melodic improvisation over given chord progressions.
