An introduction to reading and writing music. Topics include standard music notation, meter, rhythm and aural skills.

Course Learning Outcomes:
  • Write and recognize pitches on the treble and bass staves.
  • Identify meter and subdivisions of the beat.
  • Identify and define common musical terms and symbols.
  • Identify note names on the piano keyboard.
  • Construct tetrachords using half-step and whole-step intervals.
