Introduction to ProTools. Manipulate the two main windows in ProTools and learn basic work flows. First in a series of three courses.

Course Learning Outcomes:
  • Describe an overview of ProTools digital audio workstation: history, terminology, hardware and software.
  • Explain the basic software commands such as navigation, system commands, main workstation windows, edit tools and modes, time-base rulers, time scales, MIDI controls and file structure.
  • Identify the parts of the ProTools digital audio workstation edit and mix windows and their use.
  • Complete the production of a mix of a short song using the ProTools digital audio workstation.
  • Complete the production of a video television commercial using the ProTools digital audio workstation.
  • Listen and respond to ideas and reactions resulting from the use of ProTools digital audio workstations (DAW) in productions and the resulting aesthetics in group and individualized settings.
