HIIM 228 Medical Coding Practicum
Credits: 2
Diagnosis and procedure coding using ICD-10 and CPT. Coding/ abstracting health records and entering data into computerized encoder/grouper/abstracting system. Utilize Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRGs) and Ambulatory Payment Classifications (APCs). Coding compliance in relation to fraud and abuse in coding/billing. Mandatory decimal grading.
Prerequisite Required: Completion of HIIM 173 with 2.0 or above. HIIM advisor permission required.
